Urania (Beyond the Clouds) by Indira Elias

Sydney-based avant-folk artist Indira Elias returns with ‘Urania (Beyond the Clouds)’, the final single from her debut album, ‘Songs from a Moon//Songs by the Sun’. The accompanying video which is a meticulously hand-crafted, moving portrait- is ambitious and captivating, is now being premiered on Tides Magazine. 

A heavenly escape, intimate and soaring, ‘Urania (Beyond the Clouds)’ takes your hand and guides you through the atmosphere. The entire release solidifies Elias as an artist beyond medium and genre, as she performs, produces, engineers, directs the accompanying music video, paints it’s 10 meter moving backdrop- rigged on an invention she devised- and sews her costume. A gentle lullaby, the track invokes 50s & 60s Bossa Nova, and the softer ballads of Björk and Devendra Banhart, revealing yet another realm of her mesmerizing sound: a hymn of warm guitar, delicate synths and angelic harmonies. Elias’ acclaimed previous single, Dreamy Youth, was shortlisted for the 2020 Vanda and Young Global Songwriting Competition, and garnered support from the likes of Sydney's FBI radio and Triple J Unearthed. The final single from her upcoming haunting and ethereal, debut album, ‘Songs from a Moon, Songs by the Sun’, ‘Urania’ asks the listener to stop, lean in to the moment, and be swept away in it.
